  • Fishing Derby Rules:
    35 tagged channel catfish will be released prior to the start of the Fishing Derby, including a special Grand Prize fish. The prize tags for this year’s fishing derby numbering system will be announced. (Any fish with previous years tags are not eligible for prizes.)     1. Fall Festival buttons are required for all participants over the age of 12.
    2. Participants between the ages of 16-74 must have a valid Kansas Fishing License. Fishing licenses can be purchased at Outback Bait & Tackle (located at 2424 N Nelson Dr. in Derby) or online at www.ks.wildlifelicense.com (Children 15 & under, and adults over 75 are not required to have a license.)
    3. Participants must check in at the registration tent between 12:00–1:00 pm, where they will be given official tags to affix to their pole(s). Only registered participants with the correct tags on their poles are eligible to win prizes.
    4. Registration fees are $10 per fishing pole if purchased by Oct. 9th ($15 per pole if purchased after Oct. 9th). Maximum of 2 poles per registered participant.
    5. Fishing Derby will start promptly at 1:00 pm and end promptly at 3:00 pm. Fish caught outside of the Derby times will not be accepted for prizes.
    6. All fish must be caught under the guidelines of current Kansas Fishing regulations.
      Fish must be captured alive, using standard rod & reel. No other techniques will be allowed. All tagged fish caught are to be brought to the Fishing Derby Officials immediately after catch for verification, including proof of registration tag.
      Officials will be stationed around the pond for assistance.
    7. Any UNTAGGED fish that are caught MUST BE RELEASED.
    8. NO CHUMMING (feeding fish) will be allowed prior to the start of the event!
    9. All prizes will be presented to the winners at approx. 3:15 pm in the registration tent. If all of the tagged fish are not caught during the event’s scheduled time, the remaining prizes will be given away thru a raffle process at approx. 3:30 pm in the registration tent. If the Grand Prize fish is not caught, the prize money will be reduced to $250 and will be raffled off at the same time as the other prizes.
      NOTE: YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN THESE RAFFLE ITEMS!!
    10. Anyone found violating the Fishing Derby rules will be automatically disqualified from receiving any cash or prizes.
    11. Fall Festival Committee members and Fishing Derby volunteers are not eligible to win any prizes.
    12. NO REFUNDS of registration fee will be given, regardless of weather conditions. If inclement weather causes cancellation of the event, prizes will be raffled off amongst registered participants. The raffle will be held in the RH Rec Center gym at 3:30 pm, and winners will be promptly notified.
    13. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult.
    14. All fishing is done at your own risk. By registering for this event, you are acknowledging that you are waiving and releasing all persons connected with the Fall Festival & Fishing Derby from any claims of injury or property damage that may occur.
