2025 Grand Marshal: Farrel Foreman AKA Louis

Farrel Foreman Named 2025 RHFF Grand Marshal

When Farrel Foreman found out he was named this year’s Rose Hill Fall Festival Grand Marshal, he was right where you’d expect to find him, at Louis Café, surrounded by the familiar hum of the community he’s fed for nearly three decades. Humbled and honored by the recognition, Farrel lit up with his signature smile and quietly took it all in.

“I’m just thankful,” he said. “If I could, I’d give this to a dozen other people in Rose Hill.”

From Louisiana Roots to Rose Hill Legacy

Farrel’s story starts far from Kansas, in the heart of Louisiana, where he originally studied to be a music teacher. But it wasn’t long before he realized his true passion was food. That decision turned into a 43-year culinary journey, and for the last 27 of those years, Rose Hill has been lucky enough to call him one of our own.

Louis Café, the beloved small-town restaurant he owns and operates, is truly his pride and joy. The restaurant will celebrate its 28th anniversary this November 11, a milestone that speaks volumes about Farrel’s commitment to quality, consistency, and community.

“I’m here six days a week,” he said. “And even on my day off, I’m usually still in the kitchen or out on the farm.”

That farm, shared with his husband Mitch Foreman, is where he finds peace, a quiet contrast to the café life. But even away from the grill, Farrel’s heart is never far from Rose Hill.

A Community Champion

Over the years, Farrel has been a passionate advocate for local businesses. From shopping to dining to healthcare, he makes it a point to support and uplift those around him.

“I eat here, shop here, go to the doctor here. We grow when we support each other,” he said. “That’s what makes Rose Hill strong.”

He credits several community leaders and mentors including Mia Lee, Natalie Greenlee, and “Mrs. L”  for showing him the value of service and dedication. And when asked who he’d nominate if he could pass on the title of Grand Marshal, he quickly names others: Jason Jones and Kathy Zenos.

His humility speaks volumes!

Fueling the Spirit of Fall Fest

To Farrel, Fall Festival is more than just a fun weekend, it’s an economic boost and a celebration of community pride.

“The energy in town is electric,” he said. “It brings people together. It shows off what Rose Hill is really about.”

During the interview, customers nearby chimed in, unprompted  to rave about his legendary Thanksgiving cornbread dressing and pear cobbler. Farrel’s contributions to the season don’t end with flavor. He has a tradition of preparing food for both the Rose Hill and Augusta senior centers during Thanksgiving and Christmas, making sure the holiday spirit is shared with those who need it most.

Still Stirring the Pot… But With Heart

Farrel’s resilience, work ethic, and kindness have made him a favorite face in Rose Hill. Through every order, every plate, and every conversation at the counter, he shares his love for this town.

And his advice for the next generation: “Get off your iPad and get your hands dirty. Be present. Plant a crop or plan a trip. Time will surely pass you by if you aren’t present.”

Thank you, Farrel, for 27 years of food, laughter, and community. Your spirit represents the heart of Rose Hill, and we are so proud to celebrate you as our 2025 Fall Festival Grand Marshal!
